A dimensional, handcrafted greeting card made from layered paper and glue.
Lighthouses have stood along Maine's coast for more than two centuries, helping mariners navigate rocky shorelines, offshore islands, harbors, and channels. Built as working navigational aids, their towers, bold markings, and distinctive lights were designed to make them visible and recognizable from the water.
Our original Red and White Lighthouse design draws from those working Maine lighthouses. The bold red and white bands give the tower the strong visual presence of a coastal daymark, while the lantern room, railing, doors, windows, and beacon capture the architectural details that make a lighthouse immediately recognizable.
The lighthouse is built from individual pieces of paper, precision-cut by machine, then positioned, layered, and glued by hand. Metallic red and sparkling white glitter papers form the striped tower and lantern room. Matte black paper pieces define the doors, windows, railing, and architectural details, with warm yellow cardstock shining through the lantern room windows to create the beacon's glow. A copper-toned glitter paper cupola completes the design.
The card is blank inside, leaving room for the message you want to send. A lighthouse can say I'm here, keep going, you'll find your way, or simply I'm thinking of you. Whether you're sending encouragement, offering support, or reaching across the miles, the message inside becomes its own little beacon.
