Hi there. We’re Michael and Shannon Cyr, founders of Mainely Cards LLC.
Mainely Cards is a Maine paper art studio that creates original layered greeting cards designed to help people connect.
We specialize in handcrafted, dimensional, layered paper greeting cards, each one thoughtfully designed to carry your message. Every card is made in our Southern Maine studio, one piece of paper at a time.
Shannon is the artist and storyteller behind Mainely Cards, shaping each design from its initial idea through final layered paper construction.
Michael brings a trained artistic eye to color, composition, and form, helping bring each design to completion.
Together, we refine each card until it feels worthy of sending and keeping.
The Art of Paper
Our 3D layered paper greeting cards begin with our original artwork. Each design is converted into a digital format and separated into individual elements that are precision-cut from carefully selected cardstock.
We choose paper colors and textures with intention, then layer and assemble each piece by hand to bring the card to life. We use professional-grade materials throughout, including heavyweight matte card stock, acid- and lignin-free layered papers, and archival-quality adhesive. Each card is built to maintain its color, structure, and detail over time.
This is hands-on work. We spend hours designing, cutting, weeding, adjusting, gluing, and refining paper pieces until we love the result. Knowing our finished card will soon become part of someone else's story gives our work meaning beyond the studio.
Before a card is made available for purchase, we inspect it for alignment, proportion, and the small details that make it complete and ready to be shared. Because how it looks, how it feels in your hand, and how it’s received when opened all matter, only cards that meet our standards are added to the shop.
The Joy of Wordplay
We love that moment when words and pictures come together to create something that feels both unexpected and inevitable. Humor and connection go hand in hand, which is why wordplay appears in a lot of our designs. Some cards lean fully into the joke while others are a little more subtle. Either way, you'll find a healthy appreciation for wit and whimsy throughout the collection.
A Canvas for Your Words
Our front-of-card designs set the tone, and the blank interior belongs to the sender. Every card provides space for words of encouragement, appreciation, comfort, celebration, and love—a message only you can write.
Handcrafted for Good
