Whale Hello There! | Pun Intended Card
Each year, thousands of whales migrate to the Gulf of Maine to feed in its cold, nutrient-rich waters, making them familiar seasonal visitors. While they usually stay offshore, their presence helps make whale watching a popular summertime Maine experience.
Massive, intelligent, and surprisingly social, whales felt like the perfect inspiration for a greeting card built around a big, friendly hello. It took several iterations to find the right balance of friendliness, personality, and charm. Once we got there, the whale seemed delighted to make a new friend.
To create the card, we selected shimmering sapphire blue paper for the whale's upper body and sparkling white glitter cardstock for the underside, while black cardstock defines his facial details and overall outline. The “Whale Hello There!” lettering is cut from the same sapphire blue paper, while bright blue foil creates the spout and adds a reflective finishing detail overhead.
The result is a playful way to say hello that's shore to make a splash.
