A dimensional, handcrafted greeting card made from layered paper and glue.
Red cardinals are often associated with remembrance and the belief that seeing one can feel like a visit from someone who is missed. That idea of the cardinal as a visitor inspired our original design of a single bright red cardinal perched among the bare branches of a winter tree.
The winter tree and cardinal are created from individual pieces of paper, precision-cut by machine, then positioned, layered, and glued by hand. A shimmering white paper tree is carefully aligned over a thin matte black tree silhouette, leaving narrow edges of black visible along portions of the trunk and branches to create the appearance of a drawn shadow. Shimmering red metallic glitter paper forms the small cardinal, a vivid point of color in the winter scene.
The Red Cardinal Winter Visitor card can be sent when someone is missing a person they love, remembering someone special, or could use a little comfort. The greeting card is blank inside, ready for a favorite memory, a few words of support, or a message that simply says, I’m here.
