It's a Big Dill | Pun Intended Card
Pickles might seem like an unexpected source of inspiration, but in Maine, they’re part of a much deeper tradition. Maine’s long winters and strong homesteading culture made food preservation an essential part of daily life for generations, turning pickling into a familiar part of kitchens, fairs, and family recipe traditions across the state. Around here, pickle culture really is kind of a big deal.
The phrase “big deal” provided the starting point for the design. The character emerged once we imagined a dill pickle who was as cool as a cucumber. The sunglasses, easy grin, and friendly wave gave him the unmistakable attitude of someone showing up to celebrate a moment worth recognizing.
To create the card, we selected light and emerald green glitter cardstock for the pickle’s body and used black cardstock to outline his shape. Shimmering black glitter cardstock creates the sunglasses, adding contrast and helping define the pickle’s graphic silhouette. Sparkling gold glitter cardstock creates the retro-inspired “It’s a Big Dill” lettering.
The result is a lighthearted way to help someone relish their moment.
