Maine Wild Blueberries | Maine Symbols Card
Maine wild blueberries aren't planted. Ever. That's what makes them wild. Native to this land, they've grown across Maine's barrens for over ten thousand years. Small and resilient, they thrive in rocky soil, cold winters, and the challenging conditions that define much of Maine's landscape. Their brief growing season produces an intense sweetness and bright, tangy flavor that make wild blueberries worth waiting for each summer.
We look forward to blueberry season every year. Fresh berries begin appearing at local farm stands and quickly find their way into breakfasts, baked goods, desserts, jams, and favorite family recipes. We wanted to celebrate the berry itself, focusing on a simple cluster of wild blueberries inspired by one of Maine's most anticipated flavors of summer.
To create the card, we selected reflective blue foil for the base layer of each blueberry and sapphire blue glitter for the top layer, creating depth, dimension, and light throughout the design. Emerald green glitter forms the leaves, while the layered paper construction reflects the way wild blueberries naturally grow in small clusters.
The result is a cheerful card that brings a little sweetness to someone's day.
