How Our Cards Are Made

Every Mainely Card begins as original artwork created by us, right here in our Southern Maine studio. From there, each design is carefully refined and brought to life through layered paper elements, assembled by hand to create dimension and depth.

Because this process involves hands-on assembly, no two cards are ever exactly alike. Subtle variations in alignment, paper texture, or finish are a natural part of the work and a reflection of its originality.

Each card is thoughtfully finished with care, ensuring it’s ready to carry your words and create a meaningful connection.

Our cards are crafted from premium, archival-quality cardstock selected for its weight, texture, and durability. Each design is built through a layered paper process that emphasizes clean edges, precise alignment, and long-lasting construction.

We use carefully chosen materials throughout, including high-quality foil cardstock for depth and reflectivity, sturdy paper stocks for structure and balance, no-shed glitter cardstock for a touch of sparkle without the mess, and professional-grade, non-toxic glue to ensure each card holds up over time.

Each card is paired with a coordinating envelope made from heavy, high-quality paper, chosen to complement the card and provide a satisfying feel when writing, gifting, or mailing.

All cards ship from Saco, Maine via the United States Postal Service (USPS).

Orders are packaged with care to protect the handmade work inside. Each card is paired with a premium envelope, sealed in a clear protective sleeve, and shipped in either a flat or padded mailer to help prevent bending during transit.

At checkout, you can choose the shipping option that best fits your needs:

1️⃣Standard Shipping (Flat Mailer)

Cards are packaged in a flat paper mailer and sent via USPS. This is the most economical option and is suitable for most orders.

2️⃣Protected Shipping (Bubble Mailer)

Cards are packaged in a padded bubble mailer for added protection and shipped via USPS Ground Advantage.

Delivery times vary by location and shipping method selected. Tracking is provided when available. Minor wear during transit may occur, particularly with flat mailers, and reflects the mailed nature of paper goods.

Shipping costs are calculated based on the shipping method selected, delivery location, and the items in your order. You will always see the full shipping cost at checkout, before completing your purchase.

Because our cards are handmade and produced in small batches, all sales are considered final.

We stand behind our work and want you to feel good about your purchase. If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, or with a defect that occurred during production or shipping, please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We’re happy to review the issue and make it right.

Refunds or replacements are handled on a case-by-case basis and may include a replacement card, shop credit, or refund, depending on the situation.

Please note:

• Minor variations in alignment, texture, or finish are a natural part of handmade work and are not considered defects.

• We are unable to accept returns for cards that have been written in, mailed, or damaged after delivery.

Due to the card’s layered paper design, additional postage may be required when mailing. USPS non-machinable stamps (often called “butterfly stamps”) are commonly used for thicker or layered cards.
